OSHC to conduct Online Construction Safety and Health (COSH) training

QUEZON CITY, Sept 23 (PIA)-The Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) will conduct an Online Construction Safety and Health (COSH) training on September 28-October 2, 2020 (Monday - Friday).

The COSH training is the mandatory 40-hour training course required for safety officers employed in the construction industry under Republic Act No. 11058 "An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS)." Its Implementing Rules and regulations (IRR) the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Department Order No. 198, Series of 2018, and DOLE Department Order No. 13, Series of 1998: Guidelines Governing Safety and Health in the Construction Industry.

Only 50 participants, preferably from small construction companies, will be accepted in the training.

This training aims to equip participants with the basic knowledge and skills in performing safety audits, assessment and analysis of hazards and risks in the construction industry, determining appropriate control measures, and developing and implementing OSH policies and programs.

Participants are required to use:

• Either a laptop or desktop with an internal/external webcam and microphone. Mobile devices such as phones or tablets will not be allowed.

• Spreadsheet and presentation viewing/editing program such as MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Numbers, Keynote, etc.

• A stable internet connection is recommended (such as Fiber Wi-Fi) and a minimum connection of LTE for mobile broadband users. Required internet connection speed must be at least 1 Mbps.

Please be advised on the Online Training Etiquette we observe:

• Wear a decent attire for the whole day broadcast of your webcam.

• Be respectful when interacting with everyone.

• Be on time.
