DUBLIN, Ireland: Ryanair and Wizz Air both reported record-breaking passenger numbers for August, highlighting continued strong demand for air travel.
Dublin-based Ryanair announced it had carried 20.5 million passengers in August, marking an 8 percent increase compared to the 18.9 million passengers flown during the same month last year. Meanwhile, Hungarian airline Wizz Air reported transporting 6.2 million passengers in August, a slight rise from 6.1 million in August 2023, representing a 1.0 percent increase.
Ryanair also maintained a high load factor, with 96 percent of its seats sold in August, the same as in the previous year. Wizz Air saw an improvement in its load factor, reaching 95.4 percent last month, up from 94.1 percent in August 2023.
